SIT | Hyderabad, May 11 (Maxim News): Investigation into the POCSO case registered against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son has intensified, with the Special Investigation Team(SIT) stepping up efforts to trace the accused and review evidence in the case.
Kukatpally DCP and investigating officer Rati Raj Gaikwad visited Pet Basheerabad Police Station on Monday evening and reviewed the progress of the investigation. The SIT was recently formed following directions from Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
According to police sources, the accused Sai Bhageerath, who was named in the POCSO case, is reportedly absconding. Police teams have intensified search operations to trace his whereabouts.
Police examining call records and evidence
Officials said investigators are analysing the accused’s call detail records (CDR) and tracking his movements as part of the probe. Police also confirmed that the victim’s statement has already been recorded. However, investigators may record another detailed statement if required during the course of the investigation.
The police said the case is being investigated from all possible angles and special teams have been deployed to speed up the inquiry. Officials maintained that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in the case.
Investigators also stated that the victim’s statement would soon be formally documented as part of the legal procedure under the POCSO Act.
SIT to submit regular reports to higher officials
The Special Investigation Team constituted on the instructions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will submit regular reports to senior officials regarding the progress of the investigation.
The case has drawn significant political attention in Telangana, with opposition parties and activists demanding swift action and a transparent investigation.
