Six-Member Expert Committee Formed To Enquire On The Medigadda Barrage Collapse

Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 23 (Maxim News): The Central Jal Shakti department has taken the incident of the collapse of the Medigadda barrage seriously.

The National Dam Safety Authority has formed a six-member expert committee headed by Anil Jain, Chairman today, this afternoon, the expert committee will conduct a review with the officials of the State Irrigation Department in Hyderabad. Later will visit Medigadda reservoir. The Central Jal Shakti Department has directed the committee to submit a report immediately after inspecting the reservoir.

The Medigadda (Lakshmi) barrage bridge in the Kaleswaram uplifts suddenly caved in on Saturday.  The bridge between pillars 18, 19, 20, and 21 of B-Block sagged by a foot due to the loud noise. It is reported that the above bridge collapsed due to the collapse of the 20th pillar of the barrage.  The length of the barrage is 1.6 kilometers and the incident site is 356 meters from the Maharashtra side.  (Maxim News)
