Internet, July 19: Skyroot Aerospace CEO Pawan Kumar said the company aims to eventually achieve one rocket launch every month as it expands its commercial space operations following the successful launch of Vikram 1.
Speaking in a recent interview with national media, Pawan Kumar said the Hyderabad based company plans to conduct its second rocket launch later this year.
He said the company expects to increase the number of launches next year as it scales up operations. According to him, the long term goal is to build the capability to launch one rocket every month.
Skyroot Plans Vikram 2 After Vikram 1 Success
Pawan Kumar said Skyroot is also developing the Vikram 2 rocket, which will be about three times more powerful than Vikram 1.
He described Vikram 1 as a launch vehicle designed for placing small satellites into orbit. Comparing the company’s business model to a cab service, he said Skyroot aims to provide reliable and accessible launch services for small satellite operators.
The successful Vikram 1 mission marked a major milestone for India’s private space sector. Hyderabad based Skyroot Aerospace became the first Indian private company to successfully launch an orbital class rocket for satellite missions.
The achievement also marks a new phase for India’s commercial space ecosystem, where orbital launches were previously carried out only by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Skyroot team after the successful mission and described the launch as a significant milestone in India’s space journey.
