Soil management needed to raise farm productivity : PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the time has come to look at soil management and improve productivity in the agriculture sector.
With a burgeoning population, soil management assumes importance so as to maximise production despite scarce water resources, he said at a function at the release of a two-part book series ”50 years of Green Revolution in India” written by eminent agriculure scientist Dr M S Swaminathan, one of the fathers of the green revolution in India.
”As a young scientist, Dr M S Swaminathan pledged that India will not starve, it is possible to bring a change for the better,” the PM lavished praise on the scientist widely acknowledged as being at the forefront of the green revolution to end hunger among Indians.
