He told the MPs that the Special Comprehensive Revision, also known as SIR, must aim to include eligible voters and exclude ineligible ones. He also stressed that this message must reach every booth and every local area. Meanwhile, national media reports, quoting sources close to the Prime Minister, said he highlighted the importance of the upcoming electoral process. He also advised the MPs to prepare fully for the Assembly elections scheduled for 2026.

During the interaction, Modi warned MPs not to fall into the trap of the opposition. While he did not mention the Trinamool Congress or Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by name, he cautioned party members about political distractions. He also referred to the growth of the BJP in the state over the years. He reminded them that the party had only three MLAs in 2011, while in 2021 the number had grown to 65. He asked MPs to share detailed feedback on local issues as part of the party’s preparations.

Meanwhile, the opposition has been opposing the ongoing SIR process being conducted by the Central Election Commission from the beginning. In this context, Modi’s comments have gained significance. His remarks come at a time when voter roll revisions, political strategies, and regional issues are shaping early discussions ahead of the next major election cycle in West Bengal. The focus on voter list transparency and internal coordination marks a clear attempt by the BJP to strengthen its groundwork before the elections.
