Hyderabad, August 19: A 26 year old woman died after a speeding car allegedly hit her while she crossed a road near Inorbit Mall in Madhapur on Monday night.
The victim, Bharathi Mukhi, suffered severe head injuries in the accident. Doctors later declared her dead at a hospital.
According to Madhapur police, Bharathi and her colleague Pooja Ashok, both aged 26, went towards the ITC Kohinoor area around 3 pm to collect lunch.
The two women were returning towards Inorbit Mall when Bharathi attempted to cross the road in front of the mall.
Police said a car allegedly driven at high speed by Sanjush hit Bharathi while she was crossing the road. The impact caused serious injuries to her head.
Bystanders and those accompanying Bharathi immediately shifted her to a nearby hospital. They used the same vehicle involved in the incident to take her for treatment.
However, doctors examined Bharathi and declared that she had already died from her injuries.
Following a complaint, Madhapur police registered a case against the car driver. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The case will examine the allegations of speeding and negligent driving. Officials are also expected to verify available evidence from the accident location.
Meanwhile, the incident has again highlighted the risks faced by pedestrians while crossing busy roads in Hyderabad’s commercial areas. Police continue to investigate the fatal crash and the circumstances that led to it.
