Hyderabad, August 19: The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as a weather system intensifies over the region.
Several districts in Telangana may receive heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning. Meanwhile, parts of Andhra Pradesh may also receive rain with lightning.
According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, heavy rain is likely in several Telangana districts until 8 am on Wednesday.
The forecast covers Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Siddipet, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Hanamkonda.
It also includes Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts.
Rainfall forecast covers several districts
The weather department has issued a yellow alert as winds may reach speeds of about 40 kmph.
Meanwhile, many districts in Andhra Pradesh may receive rain accompanied by lightning.
The forecast covers Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam and Alluri Sitarama Raju districts in North Andhra.
It also includes Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Palnadu and Markapuram areas.
Therefore, residents should remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds. People should avoid standing under trees during lightning.
Authorities have also advised residents to stay away from electric poles and exposed wires. In addition, people should avoid weak structures during periods of strong winds.
The forecast comes as the weather system over the region continues to strengthen. Further changes in rainfall intensity will depend on the movement and development of the system.
