Spending Rs 9,402.48 crore on Asara Pensions: Errabelli

Hyderabad, Sept.21 (Maxim News): Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Saturday said they were spending Rs 9,402.48 crore for implementation of Asara pensions scheme in the State.

Replying to questions raised on the issue during question hour in the Assembly, Errabelli said a total of 39,41,976 beneficiaries were getting pensions from the State government. He also said they had reduced the pension eligibility age to 57 years. They were also taking steps to give pension to all such people in the State. He said they were now collecting the details of eligible beneficiaries afresh from the district Collectors.

He made it clear they would give pensions to all the eligible persons in the State. Rao said of the total money spent, the State government was spending Rs 9,192.88 crore and the Central government was giving Rs 209.60 crore. He said there was no such scheme like Asara pension scheme in any other State in the country. He pointed out that while Rajasthan was giving Rs 750 pension, Maharashtra Rs 600 and Gujarat Rs 500 pension, Telangana was giving  Rs 2,016 pension.

Replying to questions from members in the Assembly, Dayakar said as on date up to July 2019, the total number of 39,41,976 people were benefited in the State under APS. (Maxim News)
