State ready to tackle 3rd wave, Omicron: DH Srinivas Rao
Hyderabad, Jan.6 (Maxim News): State health director Dr G Srinivas Rao today informed that third wave has just begun and Omicron cases are on rise in the state and country. The government, he said, has plans to complete 100 percent second dose vaccination by January end.
He told a press conference at his Koti office here, compared delta variant the omicron variant is six times faster. The health director of public stated that though it is spreading fast people should avoid panic as it is less severe. Taking cue from chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Health minister T Harish Rao the health wing is geared up to tackle the third wave. Since the rise in cases of omicron alarming we have to be more cautious and avoid negligence. We plan to complete 100 percent second dose vaccination by Jan end, he said.
Srinivas Rao said that 90 percent people got infections have no symptoms. He informed that rest of the people with symptoms are getting treated he said adding that the state is ready to tackle third wave.
Health director stated that there is no need of hospitalization for the omicron patients who should avoid rushing to the hospitals. The director said that the patients with fewer symptoms should check up with doctors. There is no need of any hospitalization for the omicron patients as the severity is not much, he clarified. Since the protocols are a must the people should wear masks and sanitise hands and maintain distance, he said adding that the festivals and gatherings should conducted in a cautious manner. About 70 percent of cases of corona are due to Omicron, he said. The director also stated that the cases will see a steep rise by January end or in about four weeks.
The spread of Omicron is about six times faster than Delta variant and though it is less severe, he clarified. Only by taking precautions and following protocols people can check the spread of virus and infections, he said. The people tested positive for omicron are recovering in just five days they should isolate themselves for sevan days. He said that the cases will decrease in February after a steep rise. The cases began rising from New Year celebrations and we are prepared for 2 crore covid tests and one crore home isolation kits. With symptoms like cold, mild fever and headache the people can recover immediately and no need of hospitalization. Political parties should stop their programs, meetings as the omicron spread in the community and health officials giving vaccines to the students in the colleges for 15 to 18 years age group. The health staff will not get leaves for four weeks and health checkups are available at borders. No specific information about omicron will be given in regular bulletin as hospitalization will be a financial burden on people. In addition to regular tests, rapid and RTPCR tests will be conducted as part of plan to check virus spread.
The state hospitals have got all facilities like beds, oxygen, medicines, tablets, injections and staff to treat the patients who should follow protocols. The director said that there is no need of panic among the people who have to cautious during the festivals ahead.
The Health directed said that the people should wear masks compulsorily to check the virus. It was decided by the government to impose Rs 1000 penalty for covid 19 violations.
He said that the government directed health officials to be ready to tackle the Omicron variant with more facilities. (Maxim News)
