Stop political activity at official residence, EC tells KCR, asks DGP to give phone tapping details
Hyderabad, Oct.26 (Maxim News): In a swift action followed by a plaint by grand alliance partners, the Election Commission today directed TRS supremo and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his cabinet colleagues to stop using official residences and quarters for political affairs. The EC also sought a clarification from DGP Mahender Reddy for alleged phone tapping by some police officials as alleged by the Opposition parties.
CEO Rajat Kumar instructed KCR and his cabinet colleagues to stop using their allotted quarters and official residences for political meetings. The CEO also asked the TRS leadership to clarify whether they violated poll code by holding political meetings held so far along with reasons for holding such meetings. The EC responded over the complaint jointly filed by TPCC Chief N Utham Kumar Reddy, TD leaders L Ramana, Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, CPI Chada Venkat Reddy and TJS Dilip Kumar in this regard and directed the officials to plunge into action.
Rajat Kumar wrote a letter to DGP and asked a report comprising details of phone tapping, harassing leaders of Opposition by stopping their vehicles and reasons behind. On the Opposition plaint, the CEO also instructed the South Central Railway officials to immediately remove the photographs of TRS Chief on MMTS trains as that will induce the people for the polls.
It is learnt that Rajat Kumar made a visit to High Court to give a presentation on the use of EVMs and VVPATS and other kiosks and applications to be used for smooth and fair conduct of the polls on December 7. He is learnt to have apprised the judiciary of the poll arrangements in place in all the 31 districts in the Telangana State. (Maxim News)
