Hyderabad, Aug 19 (Maxim News): Residents in various localities in Badangpet and surrounding areas have raised concerns over the growing stray dog menace. These stray packs create fear among residents and commuters, particularly during the evening and night hours. Residents urged civic authorities to intensify dog-catching operations and take immediate measures to prevent attacks.
According to residents, a large pack of aggressive stray dogs has been roaming the locality and creating a terror. Their presence has created panic among residents, especially children.
Locals say that dog attacks have been increasing day-by-day and there are no efforts to put a stop on the increase of dog menace. “There are nearly a dozen dogs in two lanes in the colony and it has become a serious matter of concern, as the residents are becoming the victims. We are afraid to send children on errands as a dozen dogs keep wandering in every street,” said Praveen Kumar, a resident of Gurramguda in Badangpet.
Residents said the problem is not limited to a single locality, with complaints of stray dog packs being reported from different colonies of Badangpet. The issue becomes particularly serious after dark, when children, senior citizens and people returning home from work are more vulnerable to encounters with aggressive dogs. H Jagdish said “A large aggressive pack is creating panic among residents and children, especially during the evening and night. We need the authorities to send a catching team immediately before someone is attacked.”
Another resident said, “The civic authorities should identify areas with large dog populations, take up sterilisation and vaccination, and remove aggressive dogs posing an immediate threat to residents.” The residents also raised the dog menace issue on social media platforms and requested the authorities to take action. Shravan Reddy, a netizen posted “There is a severe stray dog in the colony. It has become dangerous for the residents.” He requested the concerned authorities to take immediate action.
Residents have appealed to the concerned municipal authorities to conduct regular surveys of stray dog populations, strengthen sterilisation and vaccination. (Maxim News)
