Strong Earthquake Hits Kolkata: 5.5 Magnitude, People Flee Offices And Homes

Kolkata/Hyderabad, Feb 27 (Maxim News): Kolkata city trembled.  The earthquake was strong.  On  February 27, 2026, at 1.22 pm, the earth shook suddenly.  The earth shook with a magnitude of 5.5.  The earth shook so strongly, people were scared.  They ran out of offices and houses.  lakhs of people came out on the roads.  The earth was clearly shaking and the intensity was also 5.5 people were scared.  After the earthquake, people are afraid to go into houses and offices.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center has announced that the epicenter of the earthquake is in bangladesh.  It occurred at a depth of 35 kilometers.  The intensity of the earthquake was highest in Kolkata city, the EmSC Center has clarified.  Several videos of the earthquake are going viral on social media.  This is the second time this month that Kolkata has been hit by earthquakes.  

On the night of February 3, earthquakes shook houses and offices.  people ran outside, not knowing what was happening.  The 5.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar shook West Bengal and Bangladesh.  The German research center Geosciences said that it occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.  (Maxim News)
