Sunita hails KCR rule, lists historic welfare schemes for women
Hyderabad, March 10 (Maxim News): Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao gave top priority to the welfare of women in the State, TRS MLA Gongidi Sunita on Thursday enumerated historic welfare schemes being implemented by the State government for the uplift of women, who remained suppressed for ages.
Speaking in the Assembly on the third day on the women’s welfare bill, Sunita said Chief Minister KCR introduced several welfare schemes for the benefit of women and changed their lives. Firstly, to ensure their personal safety, the Chief Minister introduced the SHE Teams and brought down crimes against the weaker sex.
The BJP government at the Centre copied the Telangana scheme silently and implementing it in other States, she said, adding that earlier the womenfolk who were confined to their homes for ages, woke up and achieving success in education, medical, political and space sectors.
Opining that the entire society could be changed for good if the women become literates, KCR introduced gurukul, schools, colleges for girl children. Apart from upgrading the Women’s College at Koti into the Women’s University, the State government distributed health and hygiene kids to the girl students. Apart from providing education for girls from KG to PG, the TRS government was giving Overseas scholarships to facilitate them to go abroad for education.
The KCR government also successfully halted the child marriages and helping their poor parents by introducing Kalayana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes. Through the Arogya Lakshmi scheme, the KCR government was providing nutritious food to pregnant women and children through Anganwadi centers. Apart from these, the KCR government introduced vehicles for the convenience of pregnant women and lactating mothers in residing in interior villages through Amma Vodi scheme. Sunita also clarified that infant fatalities came down with KCR kits. (Maxim News)
