Supreme Court Notices To Telangana Govt And EC Over MLA Defection Case
Delhi/Hyderabad, Mar 4 (Maxim News): A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the disqualification of BRS-defected MLAs. A bench of BR Gavai and Justice Vinod Chandran took up the hearing. As part of the hearing, the Supreme Court issued notices to the Telangana Assembly Secretary, the Election Commission, and the government on the disqualification of BRS-defected MLAs. The Supreme Court ordered them to respond to the notices on the issue of defections by March 22. The next hearing was adjourned until March 25.
In a hearing held on Tuesday afternoon, a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court questioned how much time should be given to the Speaker to decide on disqualification petitions. Does reasonable time mean until the deadline expires? What are democratic procedures? Tell me how much time is needed. The method of saying operation success, patient death is not right, said BR Gavai, making key comments.
