Kolkata/Hyderabad, june 15 (Maxim News): Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday in a money laundering case related to the primary school jobs scam. A day earlier, he appeared before the CID in a case of forging signatures of TMC MLAs in connection with the appointment of the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. He faced questioning for about eight and a half hours.
Meanwhile, officials said that Abhishek appeared before the ED office in the Salt Lake CGO Complex in Kolkata in the teachers’ recruitment scam case at around 11 pm. Abhishek appeared after the ED issued a summons in the money laundering case related to irregularities in the teachers’ recruitment. A senior ED official said that Abhishek’s statement will be recorded based on financial documents, digital records and the statements of other accused. He said that they will find out who is involved in the money laundering based on the bank records and communication data collected by them.
The Trinamool Congress has been facing a crisis since it lost power in the West Bengal Assembly elections recently. Several TMC leaders like Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee have faced public outrage, attacks on them, and rebellions by party MLAs and MPs. At the same time, Abhishek is facing allegations of forging MLAs’ signatures. (Maxim News)
