Hyderabad, June 7: Tension prevailed at the District Government Hospital in Jogulamba Gadwal after a 17 year old girl died during treatment, prompting her family members to stage a protest alleging medical negligence.
The deceased was identified as Indu, a resident of Erravalli village. According to family members, she was admitted to the hospital on Friday after complaining of severe stomach pain.
Relatives said doctors had informed them that a surgical procedure would be conducted on Saturday night. However, they alleged that shortly after she was taken for surgery, doctors informed them that the girl had died.
Following the incident, family members and relatives staged a protest outside the hospital and later held a road blockade. They accused hospital staff of negligence and demanded a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The protesters also sought action against those found responsible if any lapses in treatment were established.
After receiving information about the agitation, Gadwal Rural SI Srikanth reached the hospital and held discussions with the family in an attempt to defuse tensions.
According to local reports, the girl’s body was initially shifted to her native village. However, relatives later brought it back to the hospital premises and continued their protest.
