Telangana And Kerala Ministers Explore Collaborative Rice Procurement For Mutual Benefit

Hyderabad, February 2: Kerala Minister for Food & Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology, G.R. Anil, visited Hyderabad on Friday for a crucial meeting with Telangana’s Minister for Irrigation, CAD, CAF & Civil Supplies, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, at his office in the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.

The meeting delved into potential collaborations and explored Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between the two states. The primary focus was on Kerala’s specific requirements for a preferred variety of rice, cultivated in Telangana. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that Telangana could readily meet Kerala’s rice needs at a competitive price.

To expedite the process, Commissioner & Principal Secretary D. S. Chauhan has been directed to explore possibilities and draft a comprehensive Plan of Action, collaborating with Kerala’s Commissioner of Civil Supplies, Dr. D. Sujit Babu. This critical step is anticipated to solidify a beneficial agreement between the two states.

The meeting also discussed the potential procurement of other food commodities in Kerala. Uttam Kumar Reddy, emphasizing the significance of this collaboration, directed the Civil Supplies Department to proactively explore opportunities to meet Kerala’s state requirements.

The discussions were attended by senior officials from both states, who subsequently engaged in detailed conversations to iron out the requirements and modalities. If realized, such an agreement is poised to bring significant benefits to both Kerala and Telangana.

In response to the positive and promising nature of the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed optimism about the potential collaboration. The directive to explore opportunities and the commitment to meet Kerala’s requirements reflect Telangana’s proactive and cooperative approach.
