Hyderabad, Sept. 7 (Maxim News) : Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao was arrested while attempting to march towards the Telangana Assembly on Monday.
The arrest triggered tension near Gun Park as BJP workers tried to resist the police action. Police had been detaining BJP cadres who arrived in batches to protest near the Assembly.
The BJP had called for an Assembly siege over its opposition to the Congress government. Party workers began arriving in phases from Monday morning.
Police teams intercepted the protesters and took several of them into custody. The repeated attempts created tense scenes around the Assembly premises.
Rao’s arrest led to a confrontation between BJP workers and police personnel. BJP Yuva Morcha workers lay on the road to prevent police from taking him away.
The protesters demanded that police release the BJP state president. They also tried to block the police vehicle carrying Rao.
BJP Yuva Morcha state president Ganesh Kunde climbed onto the police vehicle. Police immediately pulled him down from the vehicle.
Several other BJP workers then lay in front of the vehicle. Police moved them aside and tried to clear the road.

The confrontation resulted in pushing and scuffling between BJP workers and police near the Assembly area.
According to the report, two protesters suffered hand fractures during the clashes. Several other workers also sustained injuries.
Police shifted the injured protesters to hospitals for medical treatment. Authorities continued efforts to control the situation and clear the protest area.
The repeated attempts by BJP leaders and workers to reach the Assembly kept the surrounding areas on high alert.
Police deployed personnel around key points near the Assembly and Gun Park. Officers also continued detentions as protesters arrived in separate groups.
