Hyderabad, April 26: Telangana is set to witness another spell of intense summer heat, with temperatures expected to range between 41°C and 44°C across several districts till Wednesday, April 29, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad.
More than 20 districts are likely to experience severe dry heat conditions over the next few days, with mercury levels touching 44°C in some areas.
Thunderstorms May Offer Relief
Amid the scorching weather, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in many districts, mainly during the late afternoon, evening, or night hours, which may provide temporary relief from the heat.
Meteorologists said this pattern of hot daytime temperatures followed by isolated thunderstorms is expected to continue till the end of April.
Districts Likely to Receive Rain Till April 28
Thunderstorm activity is expected in the following districts:
Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Kamareddy, Nalgonda, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mancherial, Nirmal, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Medak, and Mahabubnagar.
Rain Alert Across Telangana on April 29
The IMD said that all districts of Telangana are likely to witness thunderstorm activity on Wednesday, April 29.
Why Is This Happening?
Weather experts said the thunderstorms are being triggered by a low-level trough system extending from North Interior Karnataka to Kanyakumari.
As temperatures rise between 40°C and 44°C, the extreme surface heat combines with moisture from the trough, leading to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, which result in sudden evening thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.
