Telangana Budget 2026-27 | Hyderabad: The Telangana government has begun preparations for the Telangana Budget 2026 27, with the Finance Department initiating detailed consultations and revenue assessments.

Principal Secretary to the Finance Department Sandeep Kumar Sultania said the state is closely studying the upcoming Union Budget to align and fully utilise central government schemes.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Sultania said revenue indicators showed positive trends over the past two months.

He said real estate activity recorded notable growth, leading to higher registration tax collections. According to official data, the real estate sector registered a 12 percent growth during this period.

He said the mining sector performed even better, recording a 22 percent growth. He added that leakages in mining revenue have reduced significantly due to improved monitoring and enforcement.

Meanwhile, excise revenue has remained stable over the last nine months, offering consistency to the state’s fiscal position.

Telangana Budget 2026-27 | Contract employee data verification reveals gaps

Sultania also addressed the issue of contract and outsourcing employees in government departments. He said the statewide verification process of contract employees has been completed.

As a result, officials identified a gap of nearly 15,000 positions during the exercise.

The government had earlier found the presence of duplicate and fake contract employees across several departments.

Officials said some agencies and a few corrupt officials facilitated these irregularities. Consequently, the government ordered Aadhaar linking for all contract and outsourcing staff to ensure transparency.

This verification revealed that thousands of fake employees were allegedly drawing salaries every month, causing losses to the state exchequer.

The Finance Department said corrective measures are now in place to prevent such misuse of public funds.

Sultania said these reforms, along with improved revenue performance, will play a key role in shaping the Telangana Budget 2026 27.

He added that the government aims to strengthen fiscal discipline while prioritising welfare and development spending in the coming financial year.
