Telangana Congress leaders offer chadar to Ajmer dargah

Hyderabad, January 21: Congress party sent a Ghilaf-e-Mubarak (chader) to Dargah Ajmer Sharif of Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Moinuddin Chisti (RA) on Saturday.

AICC Telangana Incharge Manickrao Thakre, AICC Incharge Secretary Nadeem Javed, TPCC President A. Revanth Reddy, former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, Hyderabad DCC President Sameer Waliullah, and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.

Sameer Waliullah informed that the chader (Ghilaf-e-Mubarak) was being sent on the occasion of the 811th annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrath Khawja Moinuddin Chisti (RA). He said a group of senior leaders would carry the Ghilaf-e-Mubarak to Ajmer Shareef on behalf of the Telangana Congress and they would pray for prosperity and peace in the entire country, especially Telangana.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister Shabbir Ali said that the annual urs of Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (RA) is celebrated as an occasion of peace, harmony, and brotherhood. Congress party always believed in secularism and harmonious co-existence of all religions, sects, and beliefs. He said AICC leader Rahul Gandhi has undertaken a 3500-km Bharat Jodo Yatra to spread the message of unity and peace among all countrymen. He said it was a fortunate coincidence that the culmination of the Bharat Jodo Yatra and launch of ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan’ and the urs-e-Shareef of Hazrath Khwaja Moinuddin Chisty (RA) was happening almost at the same time.

Shabbir Ali said that all Congress leaders prayed for communal harmony and brotherhood in Telangana. “Thousands of people, belonging to all religions, visit the Ajmer Shareef on the occasion of the annual Urs. It is highly unfortunate that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao did not fulfill the promise of constructing a ‘rubaat’ (guest house) for Telangana’s pilgrims in Ajmer Shareef despite giving several assurances both in Assembly and outside,” he said.

“Although this is not the occasion to speak about politics, we will certainly pray that Congress return to power in Telangana this year so that people get rid of a leader and his government which made false promises in the name of Sufi Saints,” he said. (Maxim News)
