Telangana Floods: 26 Gates Of The Sriram Sagar Project Lifted

Nizamabad/Hyderabad, July 27 (Maxim News): Heavy rains in Nizamabad and other parts of Maharashtra and Telangana district due to low pressure are causing heavy flood water to the irrigation projects. Heavy flood water flows from the upper area of the Sriramsagar Project in the Balkonda Constituency of Nizamabad district, Mendora Mandal, which is a boon to North Telangana.

As about 2,22,216 cusecs of water are coming, the Sriram Sagar dam authorities lifted 26 gates as a precaution and released 1.50 lakh cusecs of water into the Godavari downstream.  The people of the downstream catchment areas have been alerted in advance that the project games will be lifted at any moment after observing the flood water coming to the project from Wednesday evening.  The Revenue and Police have been asked to take security measures accordingly.

People have been warned not to come to the catchment areas and fishermen, herdsmen and farmers should not attempt to cross the Godavari.  (Maxim News)
