Telangana Forms Third Power Distribution Company For Farm Supply
Hyderabad, Mar 11 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has formed a third power distribution company. The order came on Wednesday. The new firm will focus on farm power supply. The government named it Telangana Rythu Power Distribution Company Limited. Officials also call it TGRPDCL.
The state already has two power firms. These are TSSPDCL and TSNPDCL. Now the new firm will handle farm related supply. So the move aims to improve service. The government said the step will ease power management.
The government appointed senior IAS officer Musharraf Ali Faruqui as Chairman and Managing Director. It also named four directors. They will oversee daily work. Therefore, the new firm has a full leadership team.
TGRPDCL will manage farm power connections. It will also handle new requests from farmers. In addition, it will track power supply for irrigation needs. So farmers may see faster service.

The firm will also supply power to lift irrigation projects. It will support both major and medium schemes. Moreover, it will handle supply linked to Mission Bhagiratha. It will also manage supply for Hyderabad Metro Water Works. In addition, it will track power for municipal water schemes.
The government said this split will help the administration. It will separate farm load from domestic and industrial demand. So officials can focus on each sector. Therefore, this may reduce service delays.
Officials believe farmers may get faster solutions. They expect fewer power issues. Also, they expect better monitoring of farm supply. So the move targets better service quality.
The reform stands as a major step in the power sector. It comes after state formation reforms. The government sees this as a key change. It aims to improve supply systems.
Power sector reform remains a priority. The state plans better service for all users. For now, focus remains on the smooth rollout of TGRPDCL. (Maxim News)
