Telangana Government Lifts Ban on Employee Transfers from May 1

Hyderabad, April 21 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has lifted the ban on transfers of government employees and issued fresh orders for the annual transfer process.

The government said transfers will take place from May 1, 2026 to May 31, 2026. However, the ban will come into force again from June 1, 2026.

Officials stated that employees who completed three years in one place as of January 1, 2026 are eligible for transfer. Moreover, employees who completed four years at one station must shift compulsorily.

The government said it will not transfer employees retiring before May 31, 2027 unless they request it. Likewise, the three year rule will not apply to spouse transfer requests.

Departments cannot transfer more than 40 percent employees in any cadre. In addition, authorities will conduct the full process through counselling and online or web based applications for transparency.

The government also gave priority to certain categories. These include husband and wife cases, employees nearing retirement, persons with more than 70 percent disability, parents of mentally disabled children, widows, and employees facing severe illnesses such as cancer, kidney disease, or liver transplant cases.

Telangana Transfer Schedule Released

The government issued a detailed schedule for the transfer process.

May 1 to May 7: Finalise guidelines, prepare vacancy lists, and publish names of compulsory transfer employees.

May 8 to May 15: Employees must submit options for preferred transfer locations.

May 16 to May 24: Officials will verify applications, hold counselling, and prepare the master list.

May 25 to May 31: Departments will issue transfer orders.

Furthermore, employees must get relieved within three days of receiving orders. The government warned that it will act seriously against violations.

Meanwhile, employees engaged in Census related duties will remain exempt from these transfer rules.

The government also said special committees at state, zonal, multi zonal, and district levels will monitor the process to ensure fairness and smooth implementation. (Maxim News)
