Telangana Government on High Alert Amid Heavy Rains
Hyderabad, July 19, 2025 (Maxim News): With continuous heavy rains lashing Hyderabad and surrounding regions, the Telangana government has gone on high alert, taking swift action to mitigate the impact of the downpour. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has issued a series of urgent directives to ensure public safety, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas of the city.
Amid the rainfall, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed officials to remain proactive. Minister Prabhakar reassured the public that the government is fully prepared to respond to any emergencies arising from the ongoing weather conditions.
“We have already alerted the GHMC Commissioner, District Collector, HYDRA Commissioner, Police Commissioner, and Water Works officials,” said Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. “There’s no need for panic—our teams are actively clearing rainwater from key areas across the city.”

141 Locations Under Watch
The minister stated that 141 waterlogged spots have already been identified across Hyderabad, and coordinated efforts are underway to address them. Emergency personnel from the GHMC, Revenue Department, and Hyderabad Police have been deployed to critical zones and are working round-the-clock to clear blockages and maintain public order.
Public Advised to Stay Alert
Minister Prabhakar emphasized the importance of community cooperation during this time and urged citizens—especially those in low-lying areas—to report any signs of flooding or structural damage to authorities without delay.
“Public safety is our top priority. If you face any emergency, immediately inform officials. We are here to support every citizen,” he added.
The Telangana government has also placed disaster response teams on standby and is actively monitoring rainfall patterns through the India Meteorological Department (IMD). More heavy rains are expected till July 21, prompting officials to remain vigilant across Hyderabad and other key districts.
