Hyderabad: The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, visited frontline naval platforms of the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam on January 3, 2026. During the visit, he went onboard Indian Naval Ship Himgiri, an indigenously built advanced stealth frigate of the Eastern Fleet, and a Kalvari Class Submarine. The visit highlighted the close engagement between State leadership and the nation’s maritime defence forces.
According to the official input, the visit focused on showcasing the pinnacle of Indian naval engineering. The Governor spent time onboard the advanced stealth frigate and the submarine. During this interaction, naval officials briefed him on the platforms’ operational roles. They explained the sophisticated multi mission capabilities of INS Himgiri. They also detailed its cutting edge stealth design and integrated advanced combat systems. These systems help conduct effective maritime surveillance and maintain a strong operational presence.

Meanwhile, officials also apprised the Governor of the extensive use of indigenous technologies across the Indian Navy. They described this as a major milestone.
