Telangana Govt Announces Rs.1.20 Crore Accident Insurance For Employees
Hyderabad, Mar 23 (Maxim News): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka distributed ₹1 crore accident insurance cheques to families of electricity department employees who died while on duty. The event took place at the Assembly Hall.
Calling it a historic step, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government introduced the ₹1.20 crore accident insurance scheme to strengthen employee welfare under the Indiramma Rajyam vision.
Bhatti Vikramarka said families often face financial hardship after the death of a government employee. Therefore, the government launched this scheme to ensure financial security. He added that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to employee welfare.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the scheme will cover over 51,000 employees in power utilities, about 41,000 workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited, and around 7.57 lakh government employees and pensioners’ families across Telangana.
He also said the government first introduced the scheme as a pilot project in power utilities including Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited, Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited and Telangana Transmission Corporation.
As part of the programme, the government handed over ₹1 crore insurance cheques to the families of Varusa Suresh, an assistant lineman who died on duty in October 2025, and Mukhtar Beg, an artisan who died in April 2025.
Bhatti Vikramarka paid tribute to their services. He said the government will always remember employees who lost their lives while serving the public.
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the Indiramma Family Life Insurance Scheme announced in the state budget. Under this programme, the government plans to provide ₹5 lakh life insurance coverage to about 1.15 crore families in the state.
He said the scheme will cover families from all economic backgrounds. He added that the aim is to ensure that no family faces financial insecurity after the loss of an earning member.
Several ministers attended the programme. These included Uttam Kumar Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Dansari Anasuya Seethakka, Jupally Krishna Rao, Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy and Mohammed Azharuddin. Energy Secretary Naveen Mittal and senior officials were also present. (Maxim News)
