Hyderabad, Oct 8 (Maxim News); The Telangana government has banned the sale of two cough medicines in the State. The government issued a statement to this effect on Wednesday.
The government has issued orders banning Relife and Respifresh-IR cough medicines. The Telangana government has made it clear to medical shops and hospitals not to sell these two cough medicines. The government took this decision after it was found that both these cough medicines were adulterated.
It is known that the Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA) has already issued a key warning to the public on the Coldrif cough medicine. It has ordered the immediate cessation of the use of suspected Coldrif syrup batch number SR 13.
The decision was taken after reports of children dying after consuming cough syrup in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Allegations are being made that Coldrif syrup (Paracetomol, Phenylephrine hydrochloride, chlorpheniramine maleate combination) manufactured by Srisun Pharma of Sunguvarchatram in kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu, batch number SR13, manufacturing date may 2025, expiry date April 2027, is contaminated with toxic diethylene glycol (DEG), With this, the DCFA has clarified that this syrup should not be used. The DCA has asked the public, dealers and medical shops to immediately inform the Drug Control Authorities if they have syrup with this batch number. (Maxim News)
