Hyderabad, Jan 20 (Maxim News): The Telangana government headed by Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao has challenged the recent verdict of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi Lift Schemes in the Supreme Court.

According to the Telangana government that these project has been undertaken to provide cultivation and drinking water to the erstwhile district of Palamuru and Nalgonda,

It may be recalled that many farmers of Andhra Pradesh approached the NGT, alleging that they were committing environmental violations during their construction, and a fine of Rs. 920 crores was imposed. Telangana government strongly opposes this verdict.

On the order of the KCR, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the NGT verdict.
