Telangana Govt Sanctions Rs. 40.5 Lakh For Ramagundam Airport Pre-Feasibility Study
Hyderabad, Oct 13 (Maxim News) : Telangana moved a step forward on plans for another airport. The state shifted focus from Basantnagar to Anthargam in Peddapalli district.
The change came after the Airports Authority of India conveyed that an airport at Basantnagar is not possible. Therefore, the government decided to test Anthargam as an alternative site through a pre-feasibility study.
The Transport Department approved payment for the study. The state will pay Rs. 4.53 lakh as a fee to the Airports Authority of India.
Officials said the review will examine the feasibility of this greenfield plan. Meanwhile, the government has earmarked 591 acres for the project. This allocation frames the scale and the intent of the proposal.
Special Chief Secretary, Transport, Vikas Raj issued orders. The orders relate to the site shift and the study. In fact, the airport was first planned at Basantnagar.
However, the terrain there was not technically and economically suitable. Hence, the site change. Also, the new site choice aims to keep timelines moving while addressing prior constraints.
The Anthargam review will test key factors. These include terrain, access, and basic viability. Then, the state can decide on next steps based on findings. The fee approval signals that the process has begun. Later, detailed studies may follow if the initial review is positive.
For now, the focus is on a quick and clear assessment.
The project’s core facts are clear. Basantnagar is off the table. Anthargam is now the proposed site under evaluation. The cost for the pre-feasibility review is Rs. 4.53 lakh.
The land set aside stands at 591 acres. Therefore, the state has aligned decisions, funds, and land to test a new path. (Maxim News)
