Student unions claim that irregularities in engineering, MBA, and MCA colleges continue without strict oversight.

They allege that despite having regulatory authority, the council has not conducted thorough inquiries into fee overcharging and infrastructure violations.

According to complainants, victims usually approach the Telangana Higher Education Council when private institutions violate norms.

However, instead of initiating independent investigations, officials reportedly transfer complaints to the concerned universities for further action.

Critics argue that this practice delays corrective measures. Universities often take months to respond after receiving communication from the Council. During this period, managements allegedly cover up violations.

Recently, students of a private engineering college in Ibrahimpatnam, Ranga Reddy district, staged protests.

They alleged that the management demanded Rs 5,000 for additional books. Student groups said a complaint was also submitted to the council, yet no immediate action followed.

Observers question whether the issue stems from limited powers or administrative reluctance. They note that the Council plays a key role in supervising professional courses affecting lakhs of students. Therefore, they argue that field inspections and penalties must follow verified complaints.

Allegations of coordination gaps within the education department have also surfaced. Some critics claim that decision making remains concentrated at the secretary level, limiting proactive enforcement.
