Telangana In Top 5 States Which Consume The Most Power

Hyderabad, Oct.5 (Maxim News): State Energy Minister G.Jagadish Reddy today said that Telangana state had secured the fifth position in the entire country in the per capita consumption of power.

Replying to questions raised by MLAs of the state during question and answer session in the State Assembly on per capita consumption of power, Jagadish reddy said that the per capita consumption fee power for the year 2020-21 was 2012 units. He also said that the state was in the first position in terms of growth.

He informed the house they had installed an additional capacity of 9600 mw after the formation of Telangana state and added that power projects comprising of 7962 mw capacity were at different stages of completion. He said that they were producing 2210 mw of thermal power, 3360 mw of Hydel power and 2200 mw of power from other sectors through TS Genco.

He said that the was also getting 570 mw of power from private sector, 3415 mw from solar power and 128 mw of power from wing energy. Reddy said that the power plants with a capacity of 4270 mw were being constructed by the TSGenco.

Reddy said that the state had overcome the problem of shortage of power thanks to the vision of CM KCR and added that they had overcome the problem within six months of its formation. He said that they were providing 24 hour long quality power to all the sectors of the state after the formation of Telangana.

He also said that Telangana was the only state, which is providing 24 hour long quality power free of cost to its farmers, in the entire country.

G Jagadish Reddy said that the State government has been passing on the fruits of economic growth of Telangana State to the people in the form of welfare schemes and development programmes.

Launching the distribution of Bathukamma sarees to the women at a programme in Suryapet, Jagadish Reddy said that worst situations prevailed in Telangana before 2014 with hunger deaths of weavers and suicides of farmers. Earlier governments have not allowed the people of Telangana even to stage protests on their issue. He pointed out that mounted police force was used by then government against the protesting Anganwadi workers and police open fire on the farmers, who were staging protesting against the hike in electricity tariff before 2014, he reminded. After formation of Telangana State in 2014, the situation in Telangana State was completely changed due to the initiatives of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, he averred. (Maxim News)
