Speaking at the inauguration of the JNTU Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said: “In the Telangana Rising 2047 Document, we are placing strong emphasis on education, skills, and employment. Telangana must become a Global Growth Engine — and JNTU will be the engine that drives it.”

He released the souvenir, felicitated alumni, and addressed the gathering. He said it was a proud moment to stand at a historic institution that shaped lakhs of engineers, innovators, dministrators, and visionaries over the last sixty years.

He said it is highly meaningful that JNTU carries the name of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who believed that India’s future rests on science, modern institutions and the courage of youth. From its inception as Nagarjunasagar Engineering College in 1965, to becoming India’s first technological university in 1972, and today a 100–acre Kukatpally campus recognised worldwide — JNTU has surpassed Nehru’s dream, he said.

From Gunfoundry and Masab Tank to AI, Quantum Tech and global innovation — the JNTU journey is a historic chapter in modern India, he stated.

“They say if you throw a stone in Silicon Valley, it will land either on an IITian or a JNTU alumnus. As a government representative, I cannot recommend throwing stones — but the statistics are absolutely true!”

From ISRO to Google, DRDO to Tesla, and from public sector leadership to deep–tech entrepreneurship, JNTU has produced generations who have taken India forward. The alumni list reads like a Hall of Fame — Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Dr. Tessy Thomas, Dr. Avinash Chandra, Mahender Reddy — and thousands of engineers silently contributing to nation building, he said.

JNTU has always been a strong partner of Telangana — conducting entrance exams with integrity, guiding affiliated colleges, and supporting the government’s innovation mission. With 215 colleges and 3.5 lakh students being part of the JNTU family, its scale and influence are evident.

“JNTU has produced more engineers than the number of potholes we repair during monsoon — and both are essential for Telangana’s development!”⸻

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, education reform is underway. The state has restored trust, transparency, and dignity in recruitment exams. Technical education is being modernised through Young India Skills University, and 65 ITIs have already been upgraded to Advanced Technology Centres (and all 104 will be soon transformed). A Bharat Skill University equivalent to JNTU is being established.

All legitimate demands of JNTU —

• resolution of land lease issues,

• exemption from lease rent and property tax,

• ₹800 crore for infrastructure renewal —

will be positively considered by the government, he assured.⸻

Students should pursue curiosity and innovation beyond marks. Placements and packages matter, but the future belongs to those who create opportunities.

India is set to reach 1000+ unicorn startups by 2027, and Telangana is ready to lead this revolution.

Role models like nationally recognised R. Nithin should inspire more success stories, he said. Use EDC, Technology Business Incubator, J-Hub, and every resource available — the government will walk with you.

“If your screen time is higher than your study time, your degree is in danger — and your battery definitely is! Stay away from addictions. Stay close to books, labs, mentors, and opportunities.”

“JNTU students must lead India — not stay stuck scrolling while India is racing ahead.” (Maxim News)
