Telangana Local Polls On Track After High Court Nod
Hyderabad, Oct 9: The Election Commission (EC) has stepped up its efforts following the Telangana High Court’s clearance to proceed with local election notifications.
In a decisive move, the EC convened a video conference with district collectors across Telangana to issue crucial directives on nominations and maintaining law and order.
During the meeting, district collectors assured the EC of their full preparedness to conduct the elections smoothly.
Meanwhile, the official notification for the MPTC and ZPTC elections in Telangana is set to be released on Thursday.
Nominations will be accepted starting at 10:30 am tomorrow. Despite ongoing High Court hearings regarding BC reservations, a petitioner’s plea to stay tomorrow’s election notification was dismissed by the bench.
With no legal hurdles, the election process will move forward as planned. The State Election Commission’s schedule confirms that elections for MPTC and ZPTC seats will be held first, followed by those for Sarpanch and Ward member positions.
