Telangana Municipal Elections: Congress Gets 39.8 Percent Vote Share
Hyderabad, Feb 14 (Maxim News): Telangana Municipal Elections ended peacefully, and Congress secured the highest vote share in the state.
The State Election Commission released the official data on Saturday evening.
Congress secured 39.8 percent of the total votes. In comparison, BRS received 28.7 percent. BJP got 15.6 percent of the vote share.
Meanwhile, AIMIM secured 3.2 percent. AIFB received 1.5 percent, CPI got 1.3 percent, and CPM polled 0.5 percent.
Telangana Municipal Elections Ward Results
Elections were held in 116 municipalities for 2,582 wards. Congress won 1,347 wards. As a result, the party gained control of 64 municipalities.
On the other hand, BRS won 717 wards and secured 13 municipalities. Although it performed well in some towns, it remained behind Congress overall.
Similarly, BJP won 261 wards across the state. Independents also performed strongly and won 256 wards.
Overall, the Telangana Municipal Elections show clear urban support for Congress. However, opposition parties retained strength in certain areas.
Now, focus has shifted to mayor and chairperson elections. Therefore, political activity is expected to increase in the coming days. (Maxim News)
