- ₹700 Crore Fraud Under Scanner
Telangana Sheep Distribution Scam | Hyderabad, July 30: In a major development in the multi-crore sheep distribution scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at six locations across Hyderabad here.
The searches were carried out at the residences of former Animal Husbandry Department Director Ramachander Nayak, prime accused Moinuddin, and several others allegedly involved in the case.
The ED’s investigation is based on an earlier case registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which unearthed financial irregularities worth over ₹700 crore in the state-run scheme.
Telangana Sheep Distribution Scam
The sheep distribution scheme, launched in 2015 by the then Telangana government, aimed to support rural livelihoods by distributing sheep worth approximately ₹4,000 crore to thousands of beneficiaries across the state.
However, the ACB probe revealed a large-scale embezzlement of funds by officials and middlemen.
According to the investigation, the accused created fake records to show that certain vendors had been paid. In reality, the money was allegedly funneled into benami accounts and distributed among the conspirators.
Both the ACB and ED now suspect the involvement of influential figures in the scam.
Further investigation is underway to trace the money trail and identify all those involved in the massive fraud.
