Telangana State Song Writer Andesri | Hyderabad, Nov. 10: Eminent poet and Telangana State Song writer Andeshri passed away at his residence on Monday morning.

The 64-year-old suddenly collapsed, prompting his family members to rush him to Gandhi Hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, ministers, former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao, and leaders from all political parties expressed deep shock over his sudden demise.

Several literary and film personalities also paid rich tributes, recalling his immense contribution to Telangana’s cultural identity.

Born on July 18, 1961, in Rebarti village of Maddur mandal, Siddipet district, Andeshri’s original name was Ellayya.

He is survived by three daughters and a son. Beginning his life as a shepherd and later working as a construction worker, Andeshri overcame hardships to emerge as one of Telangana’s most celebrated poets.
He gained widespread recognition for his song “Mayamipothunnadamma,” which became symbolic during the Telangana statehood movement.

Known for his spontaneous poetry, Andeshri played a vital role in inspiring the masses during the agitation for a separate Telangana state.

His contributions to cinema were also notable. He received the Nandi Award in 2006 for the film “Ganga.” Among his other accolades were the Academy of Universal Global Peace Doctorate (2014), Dasharathi Literary Award (2015), Ravuri Bharadwaja Literary Award (2015), Nakamma National Award (2022), Dasharathi Krishnamacharya Literary Award (2024), and the Lok Nayak Award.

Kakatiya University also conferred him with an honorary doctorate for his literary achievements.
