- Telangana woman Yarala Haritha enters Australian MP race
- Telangana woman represents Liberal Party in South Australia
Hyderabad: A Telangana woman has entered the political race in Australia, drawing attention from Telugu communities at home and abroad. Yarala Haritha, wife of Yarala Adireddy from Ramakrishnapur in Parakala Mandal of Hanamkonda district, is contesting as a Member of Parliament from the Liberal Party in South Australia. The development highlights her growing role in Australian politics and her long association with the party. Therefore, her candidature has gained notice among Telugu people living overseas.
Yarala Haritha has been a strong supporter of the South Australia Liberal Party since 2011. Over the years, she has remained active in party work and local engagement. Meanwhile, her involvement led to a leadership role within the party structure. In 2023, she was elected as the Vice President of the Torrens SEC Branch. She is currently serving in that position for the second time, reflecting continued support within the party unit.
Alongside her political activities, the Telangana woman has focused on bringing Telugu people together in Australia. She has been uniting Telugu families and promoting Telugu tradition among the community there. Also, she has remained visible in cultural and social efforts linked to the Telugu diaspora. According to her, she aims to demonstrate community strength through her political journey. She says that she will show the strength of the Telugu people by winning as an MP in the elections to be held on March 18.
This is not her first electoral contest. In 2022, she contested the elections as a Clem Jig Ward Councilor. During that election, she gave a tough competition to her opponent. Therefore, her current MP bid builds on earlier electoral experience. Her supporters see this as a continuation of her public role rather than a new entry.
The Telangana woman’s candidacy reflects the growing participation of the Indian diaspora in international politics. Meanwhile, her background and steady rise within the Liberal Party underline her political commitment. As the March 18 elections approach, attention remains on her campaign in South Australia. The outcome will also be watched closely by Telugu communities who see her effort as a moment of representation on a larger political stage.
