Reacting on Tuesday to reports of an attempted attack on Putin’s residence, PM Modi expressed serious concern about rising tensions. He warned that actions capable of intensifying the conflict could derail ongoing efforts to end hostilities. Meanwhile, he underlined the need for restraint and responsible conduct. In a post shared on X, Modi said he was deeply troubled by the reports and reiterated that diplomatic engagement offers the most credible route to resolving the crisis.

The PM Modi concern came after remarks by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Lavrov alleged that Ukraine attempted to strike Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod region using long range drones. According to the statements, Russian air defences intercepted and destroyed all incoming drones. However, it remained unclear whether President Putin was present at the location at the time of the alleged incident.

Lavrov reportedly said the incident would have implications for Moscow’s position on peace talks. He described the alleged attempt as reckless and equated it with state sponsored terrorism. Meanwhile, these claims added to uncertainty around diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict. Therefore, PM Modi’s response focused on preventing further escalation rather than reacting to allegations.

The Prime Minister’s message reinforced India’s consistent stand on resolving conflicts through peaceful means. He emphasised that steps undermining negotiations could weaken global efforts toward stability. Also, he called on all parties to stay committed to talks and avoid actions that could inflame tensions.

As reports and counter claims continue to emerge, PM Modi concern reflects India’s emphasis on dialogue over confrontation. Later developments are expected to shape diplomatic responses. For now, the Prime Minister’s appeal for restraint highlights the importance of diplomacy amid sensitive international developments.
