Hyderabad, Oct. 8: Goshamahal Police arrested a 37 year old man in connection with a robbery case involving around ₹9.5 lakh in cash at Begum Bazar.
The accused was identified as Mohd Zaheer alias Ismail, a watch mechanic and resident of Chatrinaka. Police arrested him on October 8 and produced him before the XVI Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hyderabad, for judicial remand.
The incident occurred on October 5 at around 3:25 pm. Police said complainant Kevala Ram, a watch businessman, was carrying cash collected from business payments at Begum Bazar.
While passing through the balcony area of Amar Estate near Aziz Plaza, the accused allegedly threatened him with a knife and forcibly took the cash.
The complainant suffered injuries to his hands and neck during the incident. Based on his complaint, Goshamahal Police registered Crime No. 380/2026 under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and began an investigation.
Goshamahal Police Recover ₹9 Lakh Cash and Knife
Acting on credible information, police apprehended the accused at Chandrayangutta on October 8.

During the investigation, police recovered ₹9 lakh from the accused’s residence and another ₹480 from his possession. A Vivo Y21 mobile phone and a vegetable cutting knife allegedly used in the robbery were also recovered.
Police said the accused was arrested following due legal procedure and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
Police advised business owners to remain vigilant while carrying large amounts of cash. They also recommended using banking and digital payment methods where possible.
Authorities further advised businesses to install functional CCTV cameras and verify the backgrounds of employees handling cash or sensitive information.
