Tension in SR Nagar escalated on Tuesday after a land dispute led to clashes in Dasaram Basti under Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar limits in Hyderabad. The situation turned tense when a builder attempted to begin construction on a four acre plot near the basti. Local residents strongly opposed the move. They alleged that the construction would block their only access road. As protests grew, the situation quickly spiralled into violence.
According to local residents, the builder pressed ahead despite their objections. Therefore, people living in the basti gathered and protested at the site. They said the road was essential for daily movement. Meanwhile, bouncers from the old basti entered the area in support of the builder. They allegedly attacked the slum dwellers with stones. As a result, several residents suffered minor injuries. Panic spread across the locality, and fear gripped families living there.
Tension in SR Nagar further deepened as residents expressed their anguish. Many locals said they have lived in Dasaram Basti for 35 years. They said they earn their livelihood through daily wage work. With tears, residents said they had no other place to go. They feared losing their access and safety due to the ongoing dispute. However, they continued to demand protection and justice.
Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the violence. Officers acted quickly to control the situation. They spoke to both sides and tried to calm tempers. Police made arrangements in the area to prevent further clashes. They also ensured that no untoward incidents occurred as tensions remained high.
Later, police maintained a presence in Dasaram Basti to keep the situation under control. Officials focused on pacifying both communities involved in the dispute. Although the immediate violence stopped, tension in SR Nagar remained a concern for residents. The police continued monitoring the area closely to ensure peace.
