Nizamabad/Hyderabad, Mar 14 (Maxim News): Tension gripped Hansa village in Salur mandal, Nizamabad district, as police intervened to stop a century-old Holi tradition.
For nearly 100 years, the villagers have been following a unique “lightning strike” custom during Holi celebrations. Every year, they celebrate in this traditional way. However, this year, the police imposed restrictions, issuing notices to prevent the practice and warning of strict action against those who defy the orders.
The villagers are outraged by the police intervention, believing that abandoning the ritual will bring bad luck to the village. They have firmly stated that, despite restrictions, they will not stop their tradition. Many are questioning how a practice that has been followed for a century can suddenly be banned.
On the other hand, the police remain firm, declaring that they will not allow such a tradition to continue. As a precautionary measure, Section 144 has been imposed in the village to prevent gatherings. The situation remains tense, with uncertainty over whether the villagers will comply with the police order or proceed with their tradition.
Meanwhile, Holi celebrations are in full swing across the state. Roads are filled with colors as people of all ages participate in the festivities. While Holi is typically celebrated with colors and water, the tradition in Hansa village is unlike any other. Villagers strongly believe that their way of celebrating is essential for the well-being of the village.
With emotions running high, it remains to be seen whether the villagers will defy the restrictions or yield to police orders. (Maxim News)
