Tesla Coming To India: Company Released A New Poster
Mumbai/Hyderabad, July 12 (Maxim News): Electric vehicle giant Tesla is all set to mark its official entry into the Indian market with the launch of its first Experience Center on July 15. The company announced the move through a new promotional poster and a post on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the showroom will open in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
Back in February this year, Tesla had posted job openings on LinkedIn for positions in both Delhi and Mumbai, hinting at its expansion plans. The upcoming Experience Center in Mumbai will be Tesla’s first showroom in India.
Experts believe that Tesla’s arrival will significantly boost the Indian EV (Electric Vehicle) sector, bringing in both competition and innovation.
Tesla has leased a 4,000 sq. ft. retail space in Kurla West, Mumbai, which will also function as a car service center. Currently, Tesla operates four offices in India — including an engineering hub in Pune, a registered office in Bengaluru, and a temporary office near BKC in Mumbai.

Ahead of the showroom opening, the company has already imported electric vehicles and equipment worth approximately $1 million (Rs 8.58 crore). This includes six EVs, mostly Model Y units, imported primarily from China and the United States. These imports were made despite the Indian government imposing a 70% import duty on foreign EVs.
In a broader strategy, Tesla is also reportedly planning to set up a manufacturing plant in India, further signaling its long-term commitment to the country’s growing EV market. (Maxim News)
