Hyderabad, August 2: Thousands of property owners across Greater Hyderabad are reportedly facing registration issues after their properties were included in the prohibited properties list under various provisions of Section 22A of the Registration Act, according to reports. The issue has left many homeowners and plot owners unable to complete property registrations or transactions.
Hyderabad Properties on Prohibited List Trigger Concerns
According to reports, around 70,000 to 90,000 properties in Greater Hyderabad have been included in the prohibited list based on revenue records. Many of these properties are reportedly classified under Section 22A(1)(D) as government or Urban Land Ceiling (ULC)-related lands, while some have been listed under other provisions, including Sections 22A(1)(A), 22A(1)(B) and 22A(1)(C).
Affected property owners claim that the entries were made without prior notice, despite their properties having registered sale deeds and approvals obtained over several decades.
Residents say the inclusion has prevented them from registering the sale or transfer of houses, flats and plots, causing hardship for those seeking to dispose of properties due to financial or personal emergencies.
Several residential layouts and apartment complexes developed years ago have reportedly been affected. These include localities in Fatehnagar, Yousufguda, Banjara Hills, Film Nagar, MLA Colony, Panjagutta, Srinagar Colony, Jubilee Hills, S.R. Nagar, Ameerpet and Khairatabad.
Residents of some housing societies have expressed concern after discovering that their properties appeared on the prohibited list when they approached sub-registrar offices for registration.
Property Owners Seek Government Intervention
Affected residents have been visiting the district Collectorate and submitting representations through the Prajavani grievance redressal programme, seeking removal of their properties from the prohibited list.
According to property owners, officials at sub-registrar offices have informed them that registration cannot proceed because the properties are listed under the prohibited category and advised them to approach the district administration.
The affected residents have urged the Telangana government to verify the records, resolve discrepancies and restore registration facilities for properties with valid ownership documents and statutory approvals.
No official statement has yet been issued by the State government regarding the reported inclusion of the properties or the total number of affected cases.
