Three Month Ration Rice Distribution To Resume From August

Officials have already instructed fair price shop dealers to submit the number of eligible ration cardholders so that the required rice stocks can be supplied before the end of the month.

According to official data, Greater Hyderabad has 8,42,348 ration cards, while Rangareddy has 6,72,909 and Medchal Malkajgiri has 6,53,801 cards. Around 39,75,027 metric tonnes of rice are supplied every month across these three districts. Beneficiaries also receive sugar and wheat through the Public Distribution System.

Earlier this year, the government distributed rice for April, May and June in a single instalment. However, several beneficiaries faced delays due to technical issues with ePOS machines at ration shops.

To avoid similar problems, officials are upgrading the software used for fingerprint and iris authentication. The revised system is expected to complete the verification process for each beneficiary within five minutes, ensuring smoother and faster distribution of food grains.
