Hyderabad, July 29: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has directed Congress Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to expedite the SIR process, stressing the need to complete the ongoing voter verification exercise at the earliest. He said the party was preparing an action plan to take government welfare programmes closer to the people.
Speaking after the Telangana Coordination Committee meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday, Bhatti said district in-charges and District Congress Committee presidents should constitute three member panels to review preparations for the MLC graduates’ election and submit reports. He also reiterated that every eligible citizen must have the right to vote.
SIR process reviewed at Telangana Coordination Committee meeting
TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud said the meeting extensively reviewed the SIR process and the progress made by party workers. He stated that around 36,000 BLAs had been appointed and that nearly 50 to 60 percent of the exercise had already been completed.
He expressed confidence that the process would reach 100 percent completion within the next two to three days. Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress was committed to protecting the voting rights of all eligible voters and alleged that the current SIR exercise was being carried out with “malicious intent.”
The Telangana Coordination Committee meeting was held at Indira Bhavan in New Delhi under the chairmanship of AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Seethakka and Damodar Rajanarsimha, along with CWC member Vamsi Chand, attended the meeting.
The leaders reviewed the functioning of the Coordination Committee, discussed strengthening coordination between the party and the government, and assessed the implementation of earlier decisions.
The meeting also focused on government welfare schemes, organisational strengthening, outreach programmes, the political situation in Telangana and preparations for the upcoming local body elections.
