Hyderabad, Oct 3 (Maxim News): A 27-year-old postgraduate medical student was found dead inside a hotel room in Miyapur, with police suspecting her cab driver boyfriend in connection with the death.
The deceased was identified as Kotami Srijana, daughter of Bhumaiah from Shantinagar in Sangareddy district. She had completed her MBBS at Government Medical College, Mahabubnagar, and was pursuing postgraduate studies in Hanamkonda.
Srijana was also working as a paediatrician at a hospital, according to police. Investigators suspect that she travelled to Hyderabad after receiving a call from Ravi Kumar, 30, a cab driver from Amarachinthal in Mahabubnagar district.
Police Suspect Boyfriend in Miyapur Hotel Death
Police said Srijana and Ravi Kumar had known each other since their MBBS days and later entered into a relationship.
According to the preliminary investigation, Ravi Kumar had allegedly accumulated debts and had taken gold jewellery from Srijana, promising to return it after clearing his debts.
Police said Ravi Kumar checked into a hotel in Martanda Nagar, New Hafeezpet, on September 29 along with a friend. The friend reportedly left the hotel the following day.
Ravi Kumar allegedly then contacted Srijana and asked her to come to Hyderabad, telling her that he would return her jewellery.
Srijana travelled from Hanamkonda to Hyderabad on September 30 and went to the hotel with him.
Police suspect that an argument broke out between the two later that night. Investigators suspect Ravi Kumar attacked Srijana while she was asleep before fleeing the hotel.
Srijana had reportedly told her friends that she was travelling to Hyderabad to collect her jewellery. When she stopped responding to calls, her friends informed her father.
Her father later approached police in Hanamkonda and lodged a complaint.
Police traced Srijana’s mobile phone location to the Martanda Nagar area and alerted Miyapur police. Officers reached the hotel and found the room locked from outside.
The door was opened using another key, following which Srijana was found dead on the bed. Police shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Investigators also examined CCTV footage from the hotel. Police reportedly found footage showing Srijana entering the hotel with Ravi Kumar and the man leaving the premises later.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police suspect that Ravi Kumar was involved in Srijana’s death and fled the scene. Efforts are underway to trace him.
The investigation is continuing, and the post-mortem examination will help establish the exact cause of death.
