Hyderabad, Oct. 3: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare a comprehensive Child Online Safety Framework to protect children from cybercrimes and ensure they receive justice.
The framework will be prepared in consultation with the Telangana High Court and the Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TGSLSA), he said.
Revanth Reddy was speaking at the inaugural session of the National Legal Services Authority’s South Zone Regional Conference in Hyderabad on Saturday. The conference was held with the theme ‘Justice for Children in Cyberspace’.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting Legal Services Authorities and expanding their work to every district and village.
Revanth Reddy Calls for Greater Parental Role in Child Online Safety
Revanth Reddy called for parents to be involved in preparing the Child Online Safety Framework.
“Every child and parent should know two numbers: 1930 for cybercrime and 1098 for child help,” he said.
He urged parents to speak regularly with their children and remain aware of their activities online. He said the key challenge was to prevent cybercrimes against children, protect them from online threats and ensure access to justice.
The Chief Minister highlighted the role of Bharosa centres, which provide police support, medical assistance, legal aid and counselling to women and children under one roof.
He said Hyderabad has India’s first Child Friendly Court and that the Women Safety Wing of the Telangana Police operates SHE-Bharosa Cyber Labs to protect children.
“Through CybHER app, we are preparing students and teachers to stay safe online. Students are becoming cyber ambassadors for classmates,” Revanth Reddy said.
The TGSLSA has also signed an MoU with the School Education Department to educate children about their legal rights. Revanth Reddy said more than 3,000 Child Protection Officers had been trained so far.
Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Supreme Court Judges Alok Aradhe, R Mahadevan, P S Narasimha and Vikram Nath, and Telangana High Court Judge Sam Koshy attended the conference.
