Talasani Criticises Congress Over El Niño Preparedness

Hyderabad, Oct. 24: Former Telangana minister and BRS leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav has accused the Congress government of failing to prepare for potential El Niño-related challenges. He alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had ignored warnings from scientists and weather experts while focusing on criticism of opposition leaders.

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Saturday, Srinivas Yadav praised the previous BRS government’s crisis management under party president K. Chandrashekhar Rao. He recalled the welfare measures introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic and said careful planning had helped reduce hardships for people.

“K. Chandrashekhar Rao used to assess the situation a year in advance. If there was a urea shortage, he used to stock up on huge quantities,” Srinivas Yadav said.

The BRS leader alleged that the Congress government had failed to take timely steps to address possible weather-related challenges. He cited electricity purchases in a neighbouring state, claiming that power had been bought at ₹15 per unit, while Revanth Reddy had said electricity was unavailable in the market.

The former minister claimed that the KCR government had maintained reliable electricity and adequate water supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. He accused the current administration of being unable to manage electricity and water supply issues. These remarks were allegations made by the BRS leader.

Srinivas Yadav also questioned the Chief Minister’s remarks about “black magic rituals” and asked why the BRS was repeatedly being targeted. He predicted that voters would remove the Congress government from power after two years.

The BRS Deputy Floor Leader also raised concerns over voter registration for the upcoming MLC elections. He said only 23,000 applications had been received so far in Hyderabad district for graduate voter registration.

He described the process as flawed and said people were questioning why they needed to register again despite having voted in previous elections.

He urged all eligible graduates to register as voters for the MLC elections.
