TMC Rebel MP Kakoli Dastidar’s Son Sends Legal Notice To Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata, June 14: Fresh tensions have emerged within the Trinamool Congress after Dr. Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, son of rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, sent legal notices to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and several party leaders over alleged defamatory remarks.

The legal notices were also issued to TMC leaders Kalyan Banerjee, Saugata Roy, Mahua Moitra and Sonali Guha. Dr. Baidyanath demanded a public apology and warned of legal action if no response is received within 15 days.

The dispute follows comments made by Mamata Banerjee during a recent press interaction. She questioned whether members of one family expected multiple political positions after reports suggested efforts to secure a Barasat Assembly ticket.

Dr. Baidyanath, through his lawyer Pooja Shukla, denied seeking a party ticket and stated that he had no interest in contesting elections.

In the notice, Dr. Baidyanath also rejected allegations reportedly made by former MP Sonali Guha claiming that he and his mother consumed alcohol regularly.

He said the remarks were false and harmful to his reputation as a medical professional. He demanded an apology and maintained that he never pursued political nomination.

The development comes shortly after Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar stepped down from party responsibilities, including her role as Barasat Parliamentary District President. Reports suggest internal disagreements over party functioning, governance concerns and recent political developments have widened divisions within the TMC.
